Alarming rise in children diagnosed with ADHD
A study published in December 2015 shows an alarming increase of 43% in ADHD diagnoses for young schoolchildren. The study followed children between the ages of 5-17 between the years 2003-2011. According to this analysis, there are 5.8 million children in the US alone with a diagnosis of ADHD. Although the study was not meant to find the cause for the sharp rise, the researchers did raise some ideas, including the possibility of over-diagnosis.
